How long will it take?

Brass Gears and Barrel Bottoms take approximately 2  to 3 weeks in the shop.

Steel pinions, approximately 3 to 4 weeks in the shop.

Pivots, approximately 5 days in the shop.

For special jobs, Email us for a better estimate.

Plan early and allow extra time for the holidays.

Why do I have to wait so long?

Each job is worked in the order it is brought in to the shop.  The work is split up by type of work and goes to different areas of the shop.  Each area or worker has a different backlog.

I need a new gear.  What do I need to send?

Brass Gear on arbor - send the gear and arbor.

Spring Barrels - send the barrel, arbor and cap.

Pinion arbors - send arbor and any gear mounted to the arbor.

Great Wheels - send wheel and arbor.

All work returned ready to install in the clock.

Do you except charge cards?

At this time we are not set up to take charge cards.  We do take personal checks.  

How do I ship my parts to you?

UPS, US Postal and Federal Express make daily deliveries to our shop.  We have no preference on method of shipping.

How do you ship my parts back?

We ship UPS unless the customer request a different carrier.

Canadian shipments are shipped by U.S. Postal Service

Shipping Time?

We are in the middle of the US.  It takes approximately 4 days to get to either coast.  We can ship "Over Night" for additional charges.

Can I get over night return shipping on my parts?

Yes, for additional charge we can accommodate expedited shipping.

Can I pay extra for faster service?

We will expedite your work when ever possible but we do not charge extra for this service.

Can I check the progress of my work?

Feel free to contact us anytime for status of your work.

Will you return my old parts?

Brass Gears - We use your old spokes and add a new ring of teeth.  Nothing to return on this work.

Barrel Bottoms - We cut off the old Bottom and replace with new.  Nothing to return on this work.

Steel Pinions - We can return old parts when requested with order.

Do you repair my old parts?

Normally it is cheaper to make new.

Do you sell old parts?

No, we machine new parts per customers request.

Can you straighten teeth in my Mainspring Barrel?

We can straighten the teeth but since they are weakened at the root we prefer not to.

I have a gear with a bad tooth.  Can you replace the tooth only?

It can take as long to replace a tooth as it does to make a new gear.  We make all new teeth for added strength.

Can you straighten leaves in my Steel Pinion?

No

Can you straighten steel arbors?

Depends on arbor and where it is bent.  Send the arbor for evaluation.
